11 Jan iPhone V Pro studio headshots
As a sign of the times and a self proclaimed ever evolving photographer, I’ve always been open to new technologies and have adapted well to equipment over my 20 year career as a professional photographer. An avid Instagram user, I’ve noticed a great deal of photographers have introduced their smart phones to their camera equipment. I myself bought an iPhone 7+ a few months ago and added it proudly to my kit. It more than often comes in to its own when I’m shooting an event and the client has asked if I can produce a few images for their social media platforms in real time. However, there are certain areas of photography where the difference between shooting on a smart phone or investing in a pro is huge, one of them is professional portrait photography – specifically professional corporate headshots. The image below hopefully is self explanatory, but just in case you don’t see it the image on the left was shot with my iPhone in my studio with tungsten light and the image on the right was shot in my studio with my Canon 5D Mark IV using a professional 24-70 f2.8 pro lens and pro studio lighting (two soft boxes and one back honeycomb grid). It has also been fully edited, re-touched and enhanced and improvements include eyes brightening, teeth whitening, eye adjusting (the model has one slightly lazy eye) as well as skin enhancing, facial feature balancing and colour/tone enhancing.
Which one would you prefer to share on social media? Which person would you consider more professional, more ambitious, more personable and more trustworthy?
Never forget that first impressions DO count whether you like it or not and for a small investment, that could be the difference between landing that dream job, wining that contract or connecting with that new potential client. Simple.
Soora Corporate Photography services offer professional studio headshots from as little as £27 per person (if part of a team) or £70 per person individually in our South West London studios.
